Stage 1:
First you need to contact us via e-mail, MSN or Skype and describe your task and your requirements. We will review the information and provide a fee quotation for carrying out the works. Once the fee has been accepted and agreed we will move onto Stage 2. If, however, there are any problems or queries regarding what is required then we will respond to your enquiry, until all relevant matters have been agreed.

Stage 2:
To allow us to progress the agreed works you will need to send the following information:

  • Sketches or CAD drawings via e-mail. Sketches could be scanned images, in any file format. CAD drawings could be Auto Cad - dwg or dxf file format.
  • a brief description of the relevant aspects of the existing structure which may include but not be limited to whether the external walls are solid brickwork, cavity construction, timber frame or other type of construction; are internal walls solid, studwork or any some other form of construction and possibly the direction of floor, joists, beam positions etc.
  • a brief description of the proposed works and requirements. Any correspondence or record information describing or providing details of the matter to be resolved would also be useful.
  • suitable photographs of the building structure and relevant details

Stage 3:
We will respond to your enquiry within 24hrs of receiving your e-mail and advise if we require any further information, otherwise we will confirm the date for completing and returning the work. If, for any reason, we need to alter our fee quotation then this would be reported at this stage. Once the fee has been accepted, the turnaround period for the works has been agreed and the requirement for any additional information (if required) has been resolved we will progress the works.

Stage 4:
On the agreed day for delivery or earlier the structural calculations together with any related drawings and details will be sent to your mail - box. Our standard file formats for drawings are AutoCad (dwg or dxf) or, if required, Adobe Acrobat ( PDF ) and for calculations documents are provided in Microsoft Word Document and Adobe Acrobat (PDF). Other document formats would be available subject to agreement. We would also issue our invoice at this stage and our normal terms of business is for payment within 14days, unless otherwise agreed.

Stage 5:
Once you receive your information the calculations, drawings and related details should be reviewed and checked against your requirements. Any queries, comments, alterations or amendments that may be required should be reported back to us. We will deal with these matters and make any amendments that may be required. Usually these changes would be carried out free of charge where they relate to the original brief and design requirements, however significant revisions or alterations may be subject to an additional fee that would be confirmed prior to any additional works being carried out. Once the amendments are complete we would then return the revised drawings / documents back to you.

At this stage the information provided should be ready for you to submit to Building Control . If after issuing the calculations etc you receive any letters from Building Control requiring further information or clarification of matters then these should be sent to us and we will resolve these matters free of charge until your Building Control application is successful. Similarly, any additional clarifications that may be required by the building contractor in respect of the information provided would be dealt with free and with the minimum of delay in order to avoid any unnecessary disruption of the works on site. If, however, the Building Control Officer requires any further structural calculations as a result of the works carried out on site then these works would be quoted for separately.
